Silfra Meeting Point: Arrival and Parking Guide
Find the booked Silfra meeting area, separate it from P5 guest parking and water entry, and plan check-in with operator-specific directions.
Arrival points have different jobs
Guest parking, operator check-in and water entry are separate tasks. DIVE.IS links P5 separately from its meeting point. The booked supplier controls its own check-in instructions.

Your Silfra meeting point is the place named by the booked operator, not a general pin for Þingvellir. For DIVE.IS self-arrival, its current directions put guest cars in P5 and guides at a separate meeting area. Park first, then walk to check-in. A pickup booking starts with different instructions in Reykjavík.
TL;DR: Open your booking's meeting link before leaving. Separate guest parking, the guide's meeting area and the water entry. Use the required check-in time as your arrival deadline.
Last fact checked: 14 October 2026. DIVE.IS directions are the named example below. They do not override another operator's confirmation.
Your booking controls the Silfra meeting point
Find the operating company and product name on the confirmation. A booking platform may sell trips run by several companies. Its general attraction pin may identify Silfra without identifying the vehicle or guide you need. Use the specific arrival message for your chosen tour.
Check whether you booked self-arrival or pickup. Self-arrival means you are responsible for reaching the park's stated meeting area. Pickup means your first meeting is with the driver at the named stop. A meeting map for drivers does not tell a pickup guest where to wait in Reykjavík.
If the message only says Þingvellir, ask for the exact point and check-in time. The park includes several visitor areas. A service centre, visitor centre and water activity meeting area are not interchangeable. Reaching one does not mean you have checked in at another.
Keep a copy of the confirmation that you can open without a fresh mobile connection. Save the map and operator contact route too. Check the date and selected departure. An old message from a changed booking can send you to the right company at the wrong time.
Silfra meeting point: parking and orientation map
The DIVE.IS meeting page supplies two separate map links. One is for parking lot P5; the other is for its Silfra meeting point. Open the first for the car and the second for the walk. These are the operator's links, not a map surveyed by this website.
The same page says the Silfra car park is restricted to commercial vehicles. It directs private guest cars to P5. Do not drive into the operators' area because it is closer to a search result's pin. A meeting place beside company vehicles is not guest parking.
Think of the route as three separate tasks. First reach guest parking. Then walk to the named guide area. Finally follow the guide's instructions for the activity entry. The last stage happens after check-in and fitting; it is not the point to aim for when arriving alone.
The reference record on this page keeps those tasks apart. It does not draw a road, claim a distance or identify another company's current vehicle. Use the official park map and the booked supplier's directions for the actual route.
Tröll's private page also directs guest cars to P5 and asks guests to find its company vehicle in the operators' area. That description is specific to Tröll. A DIVE.IS guest should not check in at that vehicle simply because both companies use the wider Silfra area.
Walking to the stated meeting area
DIVE.IS describes the walk from P5 as about five minutes. Treat that as its estimate. Parking, gathering your things and reading signs add time before the walk. Weather and a guest's pace can change how long it takes. Do not build an arrival plan around the estimate with no margin.
Stay on the marked routes and use the directions on your confirmation. If a route is closed or a sign conflicts with a saved map, follow the current notice and contact the operator. A web map cannot approve passage through a closed area.
Arrive ready for the time on land as well as the water activity. You may need a waterproof outer layer and suitable footwear for the walk. Carry the required underlayers and forms without leaving essential items in the car. Check the operator's packing instructions before deciding what to take.
If you have a mobility concern, ask about the whole route. Reaching the meeting area is one part. Gear fitting, the walk to entry, steps into the water and the return are further parts. This guide does not certify an accessible route. Describe the specific need to the operator so it can explain its current setup.
Do not go straight to the water entry to look for your group. Staff need to check the booking and forms before fitting gear. Finding snorkelers near the fissure does not tell you which group is yours. Start with the named operator meeting point.
Arrival buffer and changing facilities
Read the check-in rule on the selected product. DIVE.IS asks guests on its checked day-tour page to arrive fifteen minutes before the tour start. Tröll's checked private page asks for twenty minutes. These are separate operator instructions. Do not average them into a universal Silfra rule.
Plan backward from that check-in time. Include parking and the walk after your road arrival. Then allow for the road conditions and any stop you intend to make. A supplier's driving estimate is not a guarantee for your date, especially if conditions change.
Keep sightseeing separate from the activity deadline. A short visit to the assembly grounds can become longer if you stop for photographs or take another path. If you do it first, set a clear time to leave for parking and check-in. Otherwise, save the walk until after the activity.
DIVE.IS describes a heated changing van on its current snorkeling product. That is evidence for that product. It does not establish a public changing room for every guest at Silfra. Ask another supplier what facilities it uses before assuming the same arrangement.
Arctic's FAQ lists toilets at Silfra but discourages using them to change because that can create queues. A toilet is not a booked changing room. Follow the operator's advice about wearing base layers beforehand and how to change after the tour.
Ask where belongings stay during the activity. Do not infer storage arrangements from a vehicle photograph. Find out what should remain in your car, what the operator can hold and whether a bag needs to stay with you until fitting. Keep the required forms available at check-in.
Parking payment is a separate task
Use the park's current parking service page for charges and covered lots. The operator meeting page links to it. An old amount printed in a tour FAQ may no longer match the park's information.
Pay through the method named by the current park notice or its official source. Keep the vehicle details and receipt as instructed. Do not assume a tour admission item covers your private car's parking. Water activity fees and visitor parking are different parts of a visit.
The checked Arctic FAQ prints a parking amount that differs from the current park page. This guide does not copy that older number. If you are comparing the cost of self-arrival and pickup, take the parking amount from the park when you make that comparison.
Reaching P5 is not the end of the arrival chain. Complete any required parking task, then walk to check-in. If payment is taking longer than expected, contact the operator rather than guessing that your group will wait. Keep a way to reach it available.
If instructions conflict
Give priority to current site restrictions, then resolve the booked operator's arrival directions directly. A saved generic pin is a poor basis for arguing with a signed parking restriction. Stop in a permitted place while you ask for clarification.
Tell the operator what conflicts. Name the page or message, your product and departure time. Ask whether it wants you at P5, a particular company vehicle or a different point. A precise question can prevent a reply that merely repeats “Silfra”.
If the contact cannot be reached, do not enter a restricted car park or the water to search. Use the marked visitor route and seek the named staff at the stated area. Keep the booking details to hand so you can identify the trip correctly.
Late arrival is its own issue. Do not assume it follows the same refund terms as an operator cancellation. Tröll's checked private page warns that a late place cannot be guaranteed. Read your actual terms and contact the supplier as soon as a delay becomes likely.
Pickup guests have a different first meeting
For a Reykjavík pickup, check the stop name and the pickup window. It may be a designated stop rather than the entrance to your accommodation. Look at the selected option's message and walk to that stop before the required time.
Check the expected company or vehicle details in the confirmation. More than one operator may serve the area. Do not board a vehicle merely because it mentions the Golden Circle. The driver must have the correct booking and trip.
Ask about a minimum passenger rule if pickup is essential. DIVE.IS's checked page contains inconsistent numbers for its transfer minimum. Resolve the exact option with the company. Do not plan around the smaller number as if the conflict were settled.
Once collected, follow the guide's arrival plan at Silfra. The self-drive parking links are useful context but do not replace the pickup group's instructions. If you change from pickup to self-arrival, obtain a revised confirmation rather than using both plans at once.
Before leaving for Silfra
Make sure you have the current product confirmation and required documents. Open the correct map. Check the transport option and time once more. These are simple tasks to complete before a road journey makes them harder.
Use the Silfra snorkeling guide to compare the arrival formats. For a family, read the age-limit guide before assuming that everyone can join the same group. The park overview can help place the land visit around the activity rather than squeeze it into check-in time.
Verdict on the Silfra meeting point
Use the Silfra meeting point on your current confirmation. Park in the stated guest lot, allow time for the walk and reach the guide at the required check-in time. Keep pickup instructions separate. A general park pin does not complete any of those steps.
